... and then they disappoint and hurt you....

I often wonder how He did it? Jesus? Here He was, the Creator of the World, the Light, the Truth and the Way, being treated as if He was scum, as if He was a nobody, despised, hurt, cruelly rejected.

Tonight I am disappointed, in humankind, in the way they treat each other. How money truly changes people's natures, how people who barely know you, can wait for your downfall, discuss your assumed failures and revel in the notion of you not making it. How people that do know you digs in the dagger one more time.

How, even when you've proven them wrong, still can barely admit to your face that they maybe they were wrong and perhaps, God forbid, apologise.

I wonder how Jesus did it? He who could in an instant strike them down, curse them, obliterate them, He didnt. He just turned the other cheek.... because that is what love does. That is what love's supposed to do. That is how love is.

tonight, I pray, I wait for love.

Love will come. I found your blog, after googling "God's love is overwhelming." And indeed his love is. His love will bless you beyond anything you can imagine. As you love him, and stand upon his promises to you, he will restore you double for all you have suffered. And the best part is that he will do all these things in the presence of your detractors, and naysayers so that they know will know he is YOUR God. may God's peace fill your heart, and hold you until he answers your prayers.

Hi there,

Came across your blog as I was searching for a Mustard tree image. I do like your thoughts. I would like to say that I do not believe that money changes people. It just looks that way. Money just gives people more license to be who they really are. I know many wonderful people, who have a lot by todays standards, and they are the kindest, most generous, loving people you could ever wish to meet. Of course I can also say that I know many people who have money who are the opposite. I can say the same of those people I know who have nothing.

There is no blessing in being poor, and their is no curse in being rich. Jesus encourages us to guard our hearts, and He tells us that it is the love of money, not money itself that is the root of all sorts of evil. This is the character issue that people must deal with. In Heb 13:5 the love of money is directly attached to the character of a person. 1Tim 3:3 warns us about the love of money. And of course there is 1Tim 6:10 which all people have heard quoted and misquoted. MOst people do not read on, because the man-mad chapter structure of Timothy does not encourage it. If we do we find much to be joyful about, and around those who have money, 1Tim 6:17-19 we find that our true riches are in God, and His way.

Our call in this world as Christians, is to point people poor and rich to a resurrected Jesus, and the true quality of life that He imputes to us through our relationship and fellowship with him. There is a war of kingdoms raging, and many forget this. Dan 12:10 says it all. 2Cor 3:2 tells us that our lives are letters of Christ to all mankind.

We have experienced His Love, His Mercy, His Grace, His Redemption His Touch, His Provision, His Kindness, His Fire, His Comfort ... It is difficult to remain angry at those who have not experienced these things and more. That have not been transformed by Him. That have not been Healed by Him. Love never fails, as His Love for you will heal you and transform before your enemies eyes, just as it did with Stephen and as he was stoned, the love that he had for The King and from The King, as Stephen is dying, he cried out (Acts 7:60) “Lord, do not hold this sin against them!” This is the Love encounter that we need to transform our lives, so we can be like Stephen and ask “Lord, do not hold this sin against them!” I believe that it as at Stephen's death that Saul sees something in God that he has never seen before.

Bless you my sister, and keep up the great writing.

Hi Peter

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. It was really inspiring.

When I spoke about money, I meant the "love of money". You can only serve one master at a time... And money is the "god" that is mentioned just about the most in contrast with serving God. I actually wrote a whole week's worth of devotional about God and what He says about money.

Do you have a blog? I enjoyed your writing.
